Yes, the characters in this book screw things up more due to their using sex as therapy. And I think Cashore was trying to show that aspect but it didn't come off well. There was, just like in Graceling, a little too much other stuff going on in the story. Plus, Fire is a really self consumed and mentally unstable character and I was just depressed at the end to think of the future for her and everyone around her.
