In order to become Queen, you must announce to the landsmeet right then and there that "ALISTAIR SHALL BE KING AND I SHALL RULE BESIDE HIM." If you do not pick that dialogue option right then and there your ass gets dumped. Apparently elves and mages can also choose this dialogue option, but Alistair just goes "Uh, no we aren't" where as with Couslands he's like "lawl okay :D"
bonus fun information: Alistair will marry a Cousland even if you didn't romance him. Hell, he'll marry her even if he doesn't even like her. Also, Anora will marry a male Cousland. This is an interesting article talking about that: http://greywardens.com/2010/04/alls-fair-in-love-and-politics/
The next game I played (human mage) I became friends with Morrigan and have basically done the dark ritual ever since because I TRUST MORRIGAN. even though it may bite me on the ass later, I trust her now. (also, a scene that was going to be in the game but was cut and then the lead writer commissioned a fanartist to make a comic out of it: http://blog.bioware.com/2010/03/01/dragon-age-the-revelation-comic/)
according to dialogue found on the disk, you were originally allowed to recruit both Alistair and Loghain because there is party dialogue for them both together. The dialogue is hilarious because it's basically Alistair going "I HATE YOU. I HATE YOU SO MUCH. >.<"
If you want to not recruit Loghain ever but feel guilt slaugthering him, have Alistair duel him. Alistair will automatically kill him no questions asked. It makes sense story wise, plus, Alistair and Loghain circling one another and dueling. Very epic. also so my pcs don't feel bad.
Next time you play the dwarves, side with Bhelen! I know he's a lying little shit, but he's actually kind of cool in that he revolutionizes the dwarves and makes life for everyone so much better. Also, if you play the dwarf commoner origin he marries your sister and makes her his Queen. :D
off-topic but not: the reason I don't make Anora Queen on her own is that she slaughters the elves in the alienage for rebelling because they are starving. For all her supposed political-saviness, it doesn't make sense, but according to the epilogue, that's what she does. Alternatively, hardened Alistair is a freaking badass King and you should definitely harden him next time.
ALSO, MODS. WILL YOUR COMPUTER EXPLODE IF YOU USE THEM? 'Cause I have some that will make your life *so much better.*
also also I want fic. share plzthnx. and I need to recommend fic to you. I should do that.
i love this game too much
