Also, just that you don't pick the main characters but the strong characters beside them--not sidekicks, but characters with their own story.
Even with Artemis, I think Holly counts as a main character right with him. He's not a hero in the first books, really, which is *awesome* and makes a difference, too.


I think the obvious conclusion from this is that you read with attention to character, not just story, and find the friends in the story that you love best for who they are. You like depth?
Plus, senses of humor are irreplaceable.

There are probably more conclusions to be made, but I like to look at patterns and let the conclusions stew. ^_^
