Public Service Announcement

As many of y'all know, I sometimes do things that other people might consider bizarre, such as hugging my television after discovering my favorite cable network is showing two of my favorite movies in the same weekend (i.e., this one). So I went online to double-check the schedule, and felt compelled to alert y'all to some classic films coming up on Turner Classic Movies:

(all times Eastern)
Wednesday: The Thin Man and After the Thin Man, coming on at 4:00pm and 6:00pm, and the all-important Dr. Strangelove Or: How I Learned To Stop Worrying And Love The Bomb at 10:30pm.

Friday: Dr. Zhivago at 1:30pm, The Bridge on the River Kwai (which I have never seen) at 5:00pm.

Saturday: In vein of Great Injustices All Over, I have to work from 9-6 on ALFRED HITCHCOCK DAY. Suspicion, Rebecca, Spellbound, Psycho, North by One-Day-I-Will-See-This-Movie-Northwest, etc. etc. etc. going on all day. MOST IMPORTANTLY, the "Essentials" (hosted by Robert Osborne ♥ and Alec Baldwin) for that night at 8:00pm is Notorious, which has come up before as one of my favorite movies ever OH MY GOD WATCH IT.

Sunday: There are going to be Spencer Tracy/Katharine Hepburn movies like Gaslight at 12:15 and the movie Gaslight at 2:15pm and then on the Essentials Jr. at 8:00pm The Philadelphia Story which has also come up as like one of my favorite movies ever DID I MENTION I WAS A SHAMELESS CARY GRANT FANGIRL?

anyway, every Thursday in July they're going to be showing a 1939 movie (best movie year ever UNLESS YOU LIVE IN AUSTRALIA oops) because it's the 70th anniversary of it WOO GONE WITH THE WIND HERE I COME.

and then August is "Summer Under the Stars" and then...I go back to school and pretend TCM doesn't exist for another four months of my life. *cries*

You are not the only person on my friends list telling me about TCM. Well too bad, we don't get that channel.

crap I knew that was going to happen :-(

I wanna start a petition to get it at ND, instead of having two AMC channels.

Sad day!! They just took TCM away from us. And my grandma was just telling me today that I needed to watch Gaslight if I ever got the chance.

:(

Loved The Bridge on the River Kwai. Great movie, haven't seen it in years, though. Wish I had cable!

...I have seen ZERO of those. Which one do you most recommend? (For after my Star Wars escapade that is)

um, all of them. But ESPECIALLY...Notorious and Psycho and Dr. Zhivago and Dr. Strangelove and The Philadelphia Story (and while you're at it, Bringing Up Baby). And...as I think of more, I will let you know. :-D

pretty much all the ones listed are awesome.
