ROLL CALL

ALRIGHTY LJ

NOBODY IS POSTING (INCLUDING ME)

who actually still visits this site on a regular basis? And what, exactly, is that regular basis? This is just me being curious I'm not going to go anywhere and half of us are also Facebook friends but you know.

ALSO if you are not spending time here, are you spending it on another site, or are you too busy being consumed with ~*~real life~*~?

also I am trying to decide which project I should work on over this whole nine-month deployment thing. I am slowly getting more settled and accepting that This Is My Life ("yeah! I spent the majority of my first year of marriage apart from my husband! so much for 'alone time before having children'" mostly I jest but it is partially true sob) and so once I beat ME2 and then ME3 and Kaidan comes back and tells me he's sorry and he loves me and I can say IT'S OKAY, I LOVED YOU ALL ALONG much to Quark's disgust as that happens and I get on a schedule (studying Old English? Who has to study for a...language course...sob) I will be WRITING and I have to finish Godbaby fic

(snippet NO STEALING: The pounding grows quieter. I am afraid to look over the wall, and I do not know why. I have only ever spoken to Mother and to the elves. Mother taught me a greeting, but I do not know if the girl—if it is a girl—will understand me. And she is only one person, and Mother told me to find a town. I think that if I wait, she and the animals will go away. I am good at sitting still for hours, at hiding from the sight of those around me. I will wait.

The grass itches at my hands, but I do not move. The smell of the animals is strong and unpleasant, but I do not cough. The sun becomes brighter and brighter in the sky, and sweat drips into my eyes, and I barely blink. I am not here, I think. I think of nothing else.
)

but also I want to work on a novel so that WP has something to read that is my fanfiction. Top choices are Goblin Novel (probably he would like it best, but it needs serious serious work because I wrote it during first semester senior year which was INSANE and Pictash spends a lot of time in a library doing research) and 2010 NaNo That Went Nowhere (the two main characters don't have names, also they are basically a younger version of Nevalle and Tanithar) (her name is either Theresa or Tabitha, but Tabitha is too close to Tanithar and I don't like the way Theresa looks, though I like the sound of it) (anyway it's my Generic Fantasy Novel in the same way that the Goblin Novel is my Subversion of the Generic Fantasy Novel). SUGGESTIONS WELCOME.

okay okay time to go eat lunch and borrow Quark's shower and pay my rent and get a library card WOOT.

eta: MY UPSTAIRS NEIGHBOR IS WATCHING SLEEPING BEAUTY is it wrong to want to knock on their door and tell them how cool they are. (Actually I think they have small children, but still. This has made my early afternoon.)

I'm here! I check in every day, even if I don't post or comment. Our laptop has been in slow decline and I get frustrated and just stop interacting as much as I was. Hopefully that will change soon as James is looking into fixing our laptop up or getting a second one!

Also he's been using the laptop a lot of webdesign work, so I am often booted off of it. Still here, and I promise I will make an effort to interact more!

I still check the site out! Once a day, maybe, compared to my old CONTINUALLY REFRESHING THINGS TO SEE WHAT HAS UPDATED.

And tumblr has been where everyone has moved to. Because it is tumblr.

I still check in about every day. I haven't really had anything interesting to post since I got back from CA except for not getting jobs, but the Dublin Theatre Festival starts in a few weeks so there'll probably be a few play review posts soon at least. (There would be one sooner than the Theatre Festival, but I'm getting LASEK on one eye in a week in a half (and the other eye a week after that), so I'll be seeing a play with one eye fixed and the other scheduled for a couple days from then and I may not be up to much computer work while my eyes settle.)

I visit LJ way more often than I do FB even if we were friended on there. For me, FB is more a placeholder "public" face so I don't lose complete track of a few IRL people, while I actually talk about things I care about on LJ.

I'm still around. And I post. I guess post frequency is kinda inconsistent, but I feel like I'm still a part of LJ. I check the site every day. And usually more than once a day.

I have a tumblr, but it's just the kinda thing I spend mindless time scrolling through.

[identity profile] beautyinsleep.livejournal.com 2012-09-03 11:04 pm (UTC)(link)
At some point in college I put everyone I cared about on email notifications, so whenever they posted I'd know. So that's how I keep up with my LJ friends (which have dwindled down to about three including you who actually still post). I pretty much just lurk on everyone else's posts, which isn't really keeping up with them, just creeping on them, so...you should feel special. :p

But yeah, time that is not caught up with life is spent on Facebook and Pinterest as far as social/media sites go. (Pinterest! You should try it out because it is awesome! So addictive.)

What about Teresa? Maybe getting rid of the "h" makes it look more appealing to you?

YAY SLEEPING BEAUTY I am overdue for a viewing of it. But wait if they live upstairs how did you know they were watching it?

:D ♥

[identity profile] aged-crone.livejournal.com 2012-09-03 11:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Does "Teresa" work any better? If it was good enough for St. Teresa of Avila, it oughtta be good enough for you!

I never posted that much in my own LJ, just in Sounis. I don't post there that often mostly because time has gone into this weird thing where there *isn't* any! I don't post on Facebook or anything else; I try to read LJ every few days.

Oh, and tomorrow I have to report for jury duty processing. It's my opinion that anybody who commits a crime deserves punishment not only for the crime but for inconveniencing all the people who have to sit on the stupid jury. Anybody who makes me drive on strange streets and pulls me away from my library so the kids can't check out books deserves to moulder in jail for a good long time.

I'm here too, lurking...some call it stalking. I...I don't write very well, compared to everyone I know on LJ, so I don't post usually, just comment. And I don't have a huge amount of time. I do spend time on fb, but I think I've alienated some friends by being so political, so I've even stopped posting so much there, too. Also, I'm feeling quite old in Sounis now! Hahahaha! But I do check in and worry about folks.
*hugs*

Present!

Here, sir! Ma'am!

I second Leslie's notion that you might like Teresa better than Theresa - that was my thought when I read the post, too. I certainly do.

Generally speaking I just check lj once a week or so, since the internets became such a time suck and I decided I really liked having time to read, you know, BOOKS, when I had time to read. I've been weaning myself off the misc internet feeds.

And replacing it with a group read of the Dunnett and Vorkosigan books, with occasional breaks for Something Completely Different.

: )

I'm here but have an unreliable internet connection, so that has been keeping me away. This problem should be solved... soon? Maybe?

[identity profile] clafount.livejournal.com 2012-09-04 03:36 am (UTC)(link)
I am here. I read LJ every day pretty much, but I rarely post much. But I'm here and reading!

And I really want to read your Godbaby fic ><

Also, re: names - here's a few: Tamara, Tanya, Tara, Tasha and I like Thora :)
Edited 2012-09-04 04:07 (UTC)

I haz an icon for this

[identity profile] emerald-happy.livejournal.com 2012-09-04 05:36 pm (UTC)(link)
I check every other day but i also check fb and gmail. But mostly I will check here first and see if you need cheering up and then hunt you down on the other two though fb has so many people on it I probably wouldn't write reflective comments on there. I don't post much because I'm so busy and only post exciting news!

We oughta finish off that dancing bear crackfic one day...

[identity profile] phemyscira.livejournal.com 2012-09-04 05:58 pm (UTC)(link)
I still log in everyday, even though my flist is shorter than it used to be. I log into Tumblr too because that's where the whole fandom has migrated.

[identity profile] hebe0.livejournal.com 2012-09-04 08:41 pm (UTC)(link)
I check LJ maybe once a week but never seem to get round to commenting :-( I kinda miss chatting - I'd probably communicate more by a few "throwaway" lines than (never) actually writing a post.

[identity profile] tiegirl.livejournal.com 2012-09-05 03:47 pm (UTC)(link)
Therese? You know, Spanish version?

ALSO YOU ARE BEYOND SWEET AND KIND AND LOVING!!

Wowwww, so I totally missed this post. /fails

[identity profile] chaos-harmony.livejournal.com 2012-09-06 11:51 pm (UTC)(link)
I totally nurse a giant irrational grudge against the existence of Tumblr for stealing everyone away from LJ, because Tumblr is, imo, a shitty site for what I want out of online journaling (i.e. actual easy, articulate communication!), but what the hell, there are pretty pictures on there. I don't have one, but even if I succumb to the evil and get one one day, LJ will always be my #1, yo.

I would love to see your Subversion of Generic Fantasy Novel -- buuuut then again, I love subverted tropes of pretty much any stripe, so there's a definite bias there. ;)

[identity profile] farens.livejournal.com 2012-09-07 03:58 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't post but I am around!

[identity profile] checkers65477.livejournal.com 2012-09-09 12:53 am (UTC)(link)
I am still around and check LJ every single day...except for the past week when you wrote this post. Seriously, I'm on every day but this past week. Weird. I just can't figure tumblr out and all the newer social networking sites seem so lame and shallow. There's nothing to them.

JADEJADEJADE. You totally need to write a fabulous children's novel in the next 9 months. 175 pages. Geared toward grades 5-7. You write so beautifully. You could write the next Newbery winner, I'm not kidding. Make it either realistic fiction or science fiction. (Fantasy never wins.) If it's SF, make it accessible to kids who don't usually like SF, so nothing too "out there." I'm deadly serious. DO IT.

[identity profile] buella-pearl.livejournal.com 2012-09-09 05:09 am (UTC)(link)
I check LJ slowly less and less, it was once a week, now it's more once a month? My friends page is basically you and a comic about a cat http://heypais.livejournal.com/
so...yes, less and less checking.
I don't always read your entries.
However, what I have to offer you today is that my brother and his wife also spent/are spending much of their first years of marriage apart. Luckily he was just allowed to come back from Afghanistan to meet his new baby son.
I trust you'll find a way to deal. Sounds like you're already on top of it by focusing on the things you loved to do before and not forgetting to throw yourself into them. Good luck.
