the thing about Zutara that gets to me the most are the intraship fights about the value of canonicity--to some people, whether or not it's canon really matters, whereas other people are like dude, it's shipping, live and let live, who cares what the creators think!
I tend to fall more in the previous camp with Zutara, because it has such canon possibility--it's not just silly fun, like Jetko. Also because I care a lot about what the creators think with all the other aspects of the show--otherwise I wouldn't love it so much--so of course I care how they handle this amazing thing they've got going.
I am a really big Maiko fan inasmuch as Maiko is what it is--a relationship they go back to, trying to go back to a more stable time, trying to be the people they were before his exile and all that crap went down--but they're not those people anymore, and Mai, while a pretty awesome chick, doesn't deal with/get how to deal with all the new things in Zuko. Sure, she loves him--but I just don't see it lasting.
IT IS SO PERSONAL, IT IS LIKE, YEAH, I GOT THE AVATAR, BUT IT'S ALL ABOUT US, BB. ALSO, CLICHES. :-D
