food is good! I just sometimes feel like authors use it in a lazy-worldbuilding way, "oh, I'll just say they ate curry, everyone will know we're in India, cool we can move onto something else." It's like a name-drop or something without much thought put into it. And then I sigh with impatience and keep going.
