so today I was grumpy and hungry and tired and having to drive the van and not even sure the van would run/not blow up on me, and I got in and switched on the radio, and lo and behold, what should be playing but

and then it was followed by

and as if the radio knew I was having a particularly bad day it ended on

probably because my radio loves me or something.

okay so after that it was commercials and I switched and ended up hearing this song and went wow, now I feel twelve again, kay.

(my physical therapist and I were discussing songs the other day while I was lying on my stomach trying to convince my thigh muscle to contract and then lift, and she was like "yeah, [song] always makes me think of a bar...where I was the only person under fifty. Yeah, not a good memory." She is adorable and I love her.)

p.s. I should really post graduation pics and update y'all about my life because stuff has happened. One Of These Days.

p.p.s. oil is gushing into the Gulf of Mexico. oil is gushing into the Gulf of Mexico. and I'm eight hours north of it and even I feel neglected. I can only imagine what the people at the beaches feel like.

That actually looked like a really cool painting, and then I stopped and thought about it. :(

Songs = win.

Oil spill = "what is this I don't even" (to quote Quark.) And how BP kept using the dispersants after the EPA ordered them to stop? And they think 60,000 barrels a day could be spilling? And BP bought up phrases on search engines so people would be directed to their information first???

glrijggr. grejligjeirlgj. FAIL.

Oh, my. I love that song. And Love Shack. To someone who can sing (I can't) that song would be nice to sing along to, I would think. I sing along if I'm alone, but it annoys me because I murder it and it sounds bad.

To the rest: epic fail >:(
What we do to this Earth is beyond words.

alaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaas I am sorry you feel like you murder songs. I sing along to Love Shack a lot. (Actually I sang along to all the songs, although I will admit I don't know all the words to Melt with You and was pausing to be like "did he just say...mesh and lace?")

uuuuugh gods I was not really following the news of the thing because it happened when exams were on. I had nooo idea it was sooooo bad. Yuk. EPIC FAIIIIIIIIL. Also it pisses me off that the thing that broke and caused all the trouble was noted to be wearing down 10 years ago. If they fixed it then...

also I heard Love Shack the other day at the opticians and thought of you. It amused me because then they played a song about someone with the same full real name as you and I lol-ed. Freaky.

that's how I felt. It actually burst on April 20th; I didn't find out about it until at least May 5th, and that was because I happened to pick the newspaper. I mean granted, I was not the most in-touch-with-news-stories person in college, but still, it feels like someone somewhere might have seen it. (Hence the feeling of neglect.)

also :-D :-D

ahaha thing is I do usually check the news about twice a day because I find if I don't and then try catch up it becomes really difficult to follow particulary economics stuff.

The Times' website has gone pay to view. Gah. Fair enough 'cause it was exactly the same as the newspaper and they were probably annoyed at the other newspapers going cut and paste.

Ugh. I feel so bad for the people on the coast. This is their livelihood. It's the beginning of the season, and they're screwed. It's just horrible. It affects the fisherman, the restaurant owners, those who work on the rigs, everyone. It's just devastating.

And that pic is horribly fascinating. Just...wow.

I am just trying to figure out how I am going to give up seafood. Because there's no two ways around it: Gulf seafood is gone, and other places are going to be fished/shrimped/crabbed more heavily to compensate, which is just going to strain those ecosystems, and I just. 'cause like even if you buy from places that only get their stuff from local fisheries, there's no telling to who else those fisheries are selling, and whether or not their being overtaxed.

oh well, at least I can still eat catfish?

*sobs quietly in the corner for her boiled shrimp*
