I have a peach cobbler in the oven! We shall...see how this goes. The batter for the topping was kind of thin and I have no idea if it was supposed to be. WE SHALL SEE HOW THIS GOES.

so this is not my best work, maybe, but here it is anyway: a brief and somewhat poetical description of my DA playthrough. Commentary on actual game stuff and potential picspam to come later. I shall say, though, that I am 100% at peace with my decisions, and that actually, I really loved the outcome.

eta: COBBLER IS OUT OF THE OVEN, AND COBBLER-Y LOOKING-AND-SMELLING. still too hot to taste. sudden important thought: do we have vanilla ice cream?

I sing the lay of Laemira, Grey Warden and Hero of Ferelden (Anora's insistence), who rose from humble and near-silent origins to defeat an archdemon and stop a Blight in its tracks. Granted, its tracks went from the Korcari Wilds to Denerim before said stopping, but no one said stopping the Blight would be easy.

(Well, Cailan did. And we all know how that turned out.)

I sing of the child born to parents whose faces are dim with memory, who gladly sent their mage daughter to the Circle, where the First Enchanter took her under his wing, for no child ought to have a face so serious as hers. Quiet and shy, she excelled at shaping the elements to her will, but it was in studying with Enchanter Wynne that her talents showed themselves, for nothing brought a smile to her eyes like healing the hurts of others, watching mages work miracles in the face of those who called their abilities a curse. She loved the Circle, the comfort of her fellow mages, the joy of her studies, the walls curving around her, despite the templars' watching eyes. Yet she saw in her gifts opportunity, to show to others that magic is not something of innate terror, but wonder.

I sing of the betrayed, who helped her friend Jowan and his love Lily for the sake of their love, who defied Chantry law because she believed their restrictions unjust, because she believed in her friend's story. When Jowan turned to blood magic, Laemira saw her future disappear on the edge of Greagoir's blade; yet, impossibly, the Grey Warden Duncan intervened on her behalf, for the sake of the First Enchanter and perhaps even that of the Knight Commander. She was yet a young mage, and her burning belief sincere, and her powers would be of use against the coming Blight, though how much and to what ends, none could guess.

I sing of a girl at Ostagar, confronted with an ex-templar with a genuine laugh, with battle and the blood of darkspawn and men alike, forced to use her abilities to violent ends. Bloodied and bruised, uncertain as to her uses on the battlefield, she nevertheless found herself the leader of the soldiers guarding the watch tower, herself illuminating Loghain's betrayal even as the other Wardens--her fellows, though she never knew them as such--died slaughtered on the battlefield, and she and Alistair saved by Flemeth's magic.

I sing of the leader, who gathered armies and companions alike--who stopped the walking dead at Redcliffe without further loss of life, who marveled at Andraste's ashes, who saved her Circle from the very blood mages who caused her exile. She walked the Fade without fear of abomination; she walked the Deep Roads with disgust in her heart, at the monstrosities the dwarves brought upon themselves, at their unwillingness to decide their own fate. She befriended the Dalish and broke the curse of the werewolves with gentle words, the same words that earned her the friendship of an Orlesian bard and an Antivan Crow. She taught friendship to a Witch of the Wilds and love to a bastard prince, and she treasured these things in her heart, for she had learned that such delicate things do not last long when war is afoot.

I sing of the Grey Warden who won the Landsmeet, who spoke to the nobles of Ferelden and earned their support, who faced the traitor-hero Loghain in single combat and won, who yet showed him mercy. I sing of the woman who watched her love walk away while duty kept her word to her queen, kept her silent, kept her alone. I sing of the new Warden, and his love for his daughter and his country; I sing of the old Warden, who offered himself as a sacrfice to end the Blight. I sing of the Witch, who asked for a child, and the Wardens who agreed for the sake of their salvation.

I sing of the Hero of Ferelden, who stood before Ferelden and promised to stay to aide her chosen queen, lauded as a singular hero yet seeing the causes of her salvation scattered amidst the crowd. She begged a boon from her queen, and gained the only prize she had ever sought: freedom, from systemic suspicion, from distrusting and prying eyes, for her Circle. She set her friends free, to stay or go as they wished, and stepped into the world a woman, Warden and mage, with endless possibilities before her.

I sing the lay of Laemira; and now, dear friends, I ask for tales of your own.

VERDICT: IT TASTES GOOD AND EVERYTHING! I was a little concerned because we had three peaches and then one of them turned out to be totally nasty (there was an ant inside it ew ew ew) so I had only two peaches and I thought I might add in some canned peaches but those are kept in pear juice and so they taste different (and grosser) and so I was like, well, hope these peach slices cover the bottom of the pan! (They did. Kind of.)

the tragic adventures of Dora Cousland

Date: 2010-08-14 12:38 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] jakia.livejournal.com
So, let me tell you about Adora Cousland (shut up, I know it's a stupid name WHY DO YOU THINK I USE THE DEFAULT NOW?)

Adora began as a spoiled noblebrat who loved swords and being a rogue, because rogue nobles totally make sense and are awesome to play as. She enjoyed talking to her family and picking locks, and even promised her adorable nephew that she would teach him how to use a sword. UNFORTUNATELY, she was never able to fulfill that promise because tragedy befell Castle Cousland that very night and killed everything she ever knew and loved. So sad. ;_;

Dora went on to become a bitchin' Grey Warden, and while she had initially planned to romance the elf, a certain blonde, snarky gentleman stole her heart mere hours into the game. So she decided to romance him instead, after, of course, losing her king and everything she had ever known and loved for a second time that very week. Luckily, she still had Alistair.

And Morrigan, of course, but Dora was too genre-savy for that shit and completely ignored the swamp witch as much as possible. (remember this as it becomes important later)

So Dora went to Lothering and recruited a giant ass Quanari and a creepy redhead stalker who would totally later become her BFF sort of. After Lothering destroyed itself (are you sensing a pattern yet?) Dora and her team went to Redcliffe, because Alistair said we should and she really didn't know what she was doing, really. They saved Redcliffe, but then Dora sacrificed Lady Isolde because she just didn't know there was a third option there, okay? Alistair got pissed at her, and it was at that point that Dora discovered the power of gifts and began throwing everything in her inventory at him to make it up to him. >.<

After the victory at Redcliffe, Team Awesome then proceeded to head to the Circle of Magi, where, conflicted with indecision, Dora decided to ask the Knight-Commander what he thought they should do, and his answer surprised her, so he will forever remain a cool dude in Dora's opinion. They also recruited Wynne, which was awesome because at that point Morrigan and Dora were about ready to kill one another and Dora really needed another mage.

They then decided to seek out the Urn of Sacred Ashes, which remains Jak's favorite part of the game. Dora cried because she saw the ghost of her daddy. It was sad. :C

After healing Arl Eamon and agreeing with his decision to make Alistair king, the group headed to Orzammar to support Lord Harrowmont. ...Which wasn't a good idea, btw, because Harrowmont turned out to be a morally righteous but terrible king. Also, she went against Caridin and then convinced Branka to kill herself to make up for it.

After that, they went to see the Dalish and made peace there.

Then came the landsmeet, where Dora got her wish to SLAY ARL HOWE when the Queen asked her to rescue her. After Arl Howe was dead, Dora rescued Queen Anora (shut up I know). Dora told her that she looked rather short for a guard and Anora basically told her to stfu and lets get out of here. Once they met with Cathreine (sp?), Dora remembered the noble and honorable woman from the cutscenes, so she was all, "Lol, hey Cathreine! You seem like the honorable sort who might could help us! We have the Queen here--"

And then Anora betrayed her ass. Woe.

After the fiasco at Fort Drakon, Anora wished to speak to Dora and ask for her support. Dora, who thought quite frankly that Anora was a bitch and could have totally persuaded Cathreine to let them go, was disinclined to support her. "Sorry Anora, but I'm supporting Alistair for the throne." And Anora was like, "Well, I think I'm the better ruler but whatevers, man, it's cool."

THEN GUESS WHO BETRAYED THEM AT THE LANDMSEET?

...Yeah, they should have totally seen that coming.

So Dora duels Loghain for the thrown and almost spares him when her boyfriend Alistair is all, "What are you doing?"

"Being the kind and merciful person that I am, why?"

"If you spare him, I will leave."

":o No don't do that! Here, I'll kill him!"

And she did and Alistair was appeased. Dora declared him King, and all was happy in the world for about 10 seconds.

From: [identity profile] jakia.livejournal.com
Then Alistair dumped her ass like a sack of potatoes. >.< Dora raged at him, and here's where the game gets glitchy, because something went wrong. Post-landsmeet dumped Alistair is suppose to have a "still-in-love" flag, but this Alistair didn't. This Alistair was all, "Hello my BFF! How are you today?" Which made no sense to Dora because, dude, he just dumped her ass in front of everyone she knew.

After that heartbreak, Morrigan offered her a way out, which Dora was not having anything to do with (remember, Dora and Morrigan hate each other, and Dora and Alistair just broke up). So dumped, heartbroken, and abandoned, Dora sacrificed herself to the archdemon for the good of Ferelden. Of course, because her game was glitched, she got a "Hey, you're my friend, are you sure you want to do this?" conversation with Alistair instead of this painstakingly sweet ending she should have gotten. At her funeral, all anyone (re: Alistair) had to say was that she was a good friend and would be missed. >.<

I was so livid I could barely see straight. Luckily, the internet told me what I did wrong, so I reloaded a previous save and fixed things, but still. ANGER. Sometimes I still get angry just thinking about it.

/my two cents
From: [identity profile] jakia.livejournal.com
also Zevran betrayed me. So she was DOUBLE-ABANDONED and then dumped. Woe. :C
From: [identity profile] jade-sabre-301.livejournal.com
HOLY SHIT

HOW DID YOU FAIL SO BAD

I THOUGHT I WAS FAILING BAD seriously the moment when Alistair was like "if you spare him I'll leave" my heart dropped to my stomach and I was like HO SHIT, I DID NOT KNOW IT WAS POSSIBLE TO FAIL SO HARD AT THIS GAME. But then Loghain was in my party and I was like LOGHAIN, YOU ARE FUCKING AWESOME, AND YOUR DAUGHTER IS BADASS, AND I CERTAINLY DON'T MISS ALISTAIR AT ALL, DAMMIT WHY DIDN'T I KNOW ABOUT THE HARDENING OPTION

(not that Laemira would be his mistress, but still IT'S THE PRINCIPLE OF THE THING)

and so anyway Loghain made it through to the end of the game and I got to be all YOUR DAUGHTER LOVES YOU and he was like I knoooooooooow and I was like MAC TIR FAMILY, CAN I JOIN YOU? Except then I would have to marry Loghain and I--idk if Laemira is ready for would do that.

also wait WHY did Alistair dump your ass? You were a Cousland! What did you do wrong? Was it trying to spare Loghain's life? Does simply entertaining the thought screw you over that much? PLEASE SATISFY MY CURIOSITY ON THIS SUBJECT, I WANT TO KNOW.

also it, um, helped that I did the Circle before I did Redcliffe, so that option was immediately available. (To be fair, my sister just killed Connor because she thought Jowan would screw up on her and she didn't know about the third option, and so after watching that horrific scene I explained to her how gifts work, and who should receive what. She is trying to bang both Alistair and Leliana, which is weird because her character and Leliana's character could be twins, awkward.)

ALSO I figured that the whole Morrigan thing was for Couslands what the post-Landsmeet breakup was for EVERY OTHER CHARACTER: a moment where the game says HERE IS A SLIGHTLY AMORAL OUT, YOU MIGHT WANT TO TAKE IT and the player says something like NO I WANT ALISTAIR TO BE KING or NO I AM NOT GOING TO SUBJECT THE LOVE OF MY LIFE TO MORRIGAN'S BANGINGS, and then three or four hours later you find out that OSNAP YOU OR ALISTAIR IS NOW DEAD and you're like WHAT RAGE THAT'S NOT EVEN I THOUGHT I WAS DOING THE RIGHT THING BUT WHAT RAGE AAAAAAAAAAAAARGH

I mean, I was livid over the post-Landsmeet breakup because it was so freaking generic and also NONSENSICAL because HELLO, I KNOW YOU JOKE ABOUT HAVING KIDS WITH COUSLAND, DON'T THINK I DIDN'T HEAR ABOUT THAT and aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaargh I feel your anger. I still feel it. (As much as I love Alistair, him leaving the party was like a giant de-stressor, because I'd known [without real spoilers, just a general mood thing] from the moment Eamon was like I SHALL MAKE YOU KING that he and Laemira weren't going to work out, and it was better to have him gone-gone then to have to sit there being like, WHY AREN'T WE TOGETHER, OH RIGHT, I HATE EVERYTHING.)

also yeah, Harrowmount. You know what killed me? That the dwarven section of the epilogue was the longest part of the epilogue, and all it did was say SO THE KING SCREWED UP AND THE CHANTRY SCREWED UP AND THE GOLEMS SCREWED UP AND BASICALLY THOSE DWARVES MANAGED TO FUCK THEMSELVES OVER FIVE SECONDS AFTER YOU LEFT and I was like ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME, I FUCKING HATE THE DWARVES, I DON'T EVEN CARE. Although I sided against Branka straight-up, even though I thought she was badass, because making golems involves binding souls and Laemira is NOT OKAY WITH THAT SHIT. Did I mention that she hates blood magic? It's like, the one thing in the world she actually truly hates. (Which is part of the reason why I can't 100% decide if she would actually have Loghain and Morrigan go through the ritual--I suspect her strongest motivation was that it would 100% ensure that Loghain wouldn't die, because she, uh, is very fond of him. I hope Quark doesn't read this.)
From: [identity profile] jade-sabre-301.livejournal.com

Laemira and Morrigan got on inasmuch as Laemira was totally in awe of the idea of getting to be a mage that could go wherever and do whatever, and she killed Flemeth for Morrigan. She wasn't really cool with, you know, Morrigan's entire attitude, but she kept the balance by giving her the shineys, so whatevs.

I couldn't get lots of influence with Leliana to do anything interesting other than say MY HAIR, IT'S NICE, UH, LET'S MOVE ON.

I really really really REALLY wished I had left Zevran open for banging, though, because while IC Laemira wouldn't bang him, I would totally allow her some post-break-up-and-abandonment comfort. I had him at 100 by the end of the game, and I am a sucker for characters who are like YOU ARE MY FIRST FRIEND EVER (see also: Morrigan and Laemira were friends), and everything about him is awesome.

um um um idk. Other than the fact that glitches in games are the WORST. Quark and I encountered the one in the Cousland opening where the door doesn't unlock and it was frustrating enough having to redo an hour of work plus that forty-five minutes she had spent running around trying to find the other way out. ugh ugh ugh.

okay I can't say anymore without finding out why Alistair dumped your ass, so I will stop talking now.

omg

Adora and Laemira should have a party sometime.

In order to become Queen, you must announce to the landsmeet right then and there that "ALISTAIR SHALL BE KING AND I SHALL RULE BESIDE HIM." If you do not pick that dialogue option right then and there your ass gets dumped. Apparently elves and mages can also choose this dialogue option, but Alistair just goes "Uh, no we aren't" where as with Couslands he's like "lawl okay :D"

bonus fun information: Alistair will marry a Cousland even if you didn't romance him. Hell, he'll marry her even if he doesn't even like her. Also, Anora will marry a male Cousland. This is an interesting article talking about that: http://greywardens.com/2010/04/alls-fair-in-love-and-politics/

The next game I played (human mage) I became friends with Morrigan and have basically done the dark ritual ever since because I TRUST MORRIGAN. even though it may bite me on the ass later, I trust her now. (also, a scene that was going to be in the game but was cut and then the lead writer commissioned a fanartist to make a comic out of it: http://blog.bioware.com/2010/03/01/dragon-age-the-revelation-comic/)

according to dialogue found on the disk, you were originally allowed to recruit both Alistair and Loghain because there is party dialogue for them both together. The dialogue is hilarious because it's basically Alistair going "I HATE YOU. I HATE YOU SO MUCH. >.<"

If you want to not recruit Loghain ever but feel guilt slaugthering him, have Alistair duel him. Alistair will automatically kill him no questions asked. It makes sense story wise, plus, Alistair and Loghain circling one another and dueling. Very epic. also so my pcs don't feel bad.

Next time you play the dwarves, side with Bhelen! I know he's a lying little shit, but he's actually kind of cool in that he revolutionizes the dwarves and makes life for everyone so much better. Also, if you play the dwarf commoner origin he marries your sister and makes her his Queen. :D

off-topic but not: the reason I don't make Anora Queen on her own is that she slaughters the elves in the alienage for rebelling because they are starving. For all her supposed political-saviness, it doesn't make sense, but according to the epilogue, that's what she does. Alternatively, hardened Alistair is a freaking badass King and you should definitely harden him next time.

ALSO, MODS. WILL YOUR COMPUTER EXPLODE IF YOU USE THEM? 'Cause I have some that will make your life *so much better.*

also also I want fic. share plzthnx. and I need to recommend fic to you. I should do that.

OH SHIT well I'll keep that in mind. What happens as a mage is you go WE'LL GET MARRIED and he's like, um, you're not a noble, shut your mouth. D:

I knew about Anora marrying a male Cousland, and I would be ALL UP ON THAT. Because I love her. And that article is 5,000 kinds of awesome and I kind of want to marry it for love AND ALSO POLITICAL NECESSITY. (Although yes, Anora states that her match was one of political necessity, but she at least liked Cailan going into it. omg Loghaaaaaaaaaaaaaain.)

OMG I HAVE THAT SCREENCAP FROM GOLDANNA'S HOUSE *sobs*

also finally confirmation about the not having a child thing! Full stop! /makes Morrigan and Alistair's child the heir

/horrible person maybe

anyway comic! OMG BABY ALISTAIR YOU LOOK V. LITTLE OMG I LOVE THIS

(complete side note: if you make Anora queen by herself, she doesn't get married, and I totally do not have ridiculous kidfic in my head in which the Warden convinces Anora and Zevran to sleep together so that Anora can at least have an heir, who then spends its time growing up all over the place and is a complete Sue and I am NOT FALLING FOR IT AT ALL.)

AAAAAW MORRIGAN ILU SO HARD.

also that sucks

also I, uh, ended up having to use Morrigan to pwn Loghain with any reliability, because I have no idea how to play a melee character and so Alistair just got knocked over and then buttkicked every time I used him. ;_; BUT THANKS FOR THE TIP, I WILL FEEL BETTER because my Elissa wouldn't kill Anora's dad.

SO I HEAR. SO I HEAR. My sister played through the dwarf noble opening and she LOVES it, and I wonder if having an investment in the dwarf plot would make Orzammar more bearable. At least in terms of the fact that they want you to solve EVERYTHING.

also yes I saw that, and I was like, ANORA, COME ON, but maybe she was PMSing or something. but then the epilogue also told us that the Chantry wants to make an Exalted March on Orzammar, and I think that is hilarious.

UM, MAYBE MAYBE NOT? WHY WHAT ARE THEY.

omg the fic you have already recommended was so good and I need to go back and review because it is a CRIME Bladesworn does not have more reviews, OMG SO GOOD.

are--are there good comms that I can join and pepper with questions/cross-post my rants so more people will read them and maybe soothe the comment whore in my heart.

As far as fics go HERE LET ME INTRODUCE YOU TO CRIS. She also plays a mage and writes absolutely fantastic fanfiction and I'm just going to link you to her profile because everything is amazing.

http://www.fanfiction.net/u/1537964/Crisium

In other news:

* fanfic where Morrigan/Alistair baby is heir to the throne? omg I would so read the crap out of that.

* lady I have already told you Anora/Fergus is where it's at THEY ARE BITTER WIDOW/WIDOWERS WHO UNDERSTAND EACH OTHER'S PAIN also it would be hot.

* idk about the dwarves. On the one hand, it makes Orzammar fantastic. On the other hand, it makes the rest of the game feel really, really weird. Other people really love the origins, but for me that's where the love ends: the origins. After that I just don't care anymore. >.> Don't let me influence you, though--the origins are definitely worth playing, they just aren't my favorites.

* ideally for Ferelden, Alistair/Anora triggers a golden age and basically makes everything awesome forever. But hardened!Alistair is probably next, followed by Anora, followed by normal!Alistair. Still I have an aversion to Anora in general so usually hardened!Alistair just becomes king no matter what.

also are you going to play awakenings ever?

WHAT IS SIDE QUEST SATURDAY?

ooooooh *stares at the mods*

YAY FIC

also

*omg I would too. but I would have to play Awakenings first and in answer to your last questions YES, BUT PROBABLY NOT FOR A YEAR, or at least like four months, idk how long my Christmas break will be and maybe by then the game will not be $30 *sob* but omg, she needs a name. (Loghain/Morrigan baby has a name. Alistair/Morrigan baby is currently just...blonde. With her mommy's eyes.)

*TEAGAN/ANORAAAAAAAAAAAAAA although I did read Alfstanna/Teagan and I would probably ship that too.

*being a dwarf usually feels that way. Especially because you are always SHORT. But I will def. play all the origins; I doubt I will ever play through the game as a dwarf. Or a dude. Why am I so bad at playing dudes?

*oooooooooooooooooooooh really? that actually makes me really happy inside. (Anora/Alistair would be Laemira's second IC option, but again, see: relief that he was gone.)

* Side Quest Saturday is "fandom fluff" day where we talk about everything and post funny pictures and fics in progress. Blantly stolen from the mass effect com, but it's been popular so far so I'll keep doing it. It's a good place to introduce yourself.

* You can write it without playing Awakenings! There is nothing *too* plotworthy there. Well. Sort of. Stuff does. But! nothing that should interfer with Morrigan/Alistair baby fic. If you want, write it and I shall beta, telling you if anything gets contradicted?

* I thought I read somewhere that Awakenings was down to $20? Maybe not, though.

* A friend and I discussed the baby name thing. We like Dolanna--it's Scottish (like everything in Dragon Age) and means "world leader" so it's also appropriate. If it's a male baby, though, it's gotta be Urthemiel, as that's the archdeomn's name. (not really but IDEAS, man).

* also I usually make the old god look different--dark hair and Alistair's eyes. And I usually give her Alistair's personality completely because it would freak Morrigan the crap out.

* I used to like Teagan/Anora but a certain fic (re: read more Cris) and some fanart totally converted me to the joy that is Teagan/Leliana. Face is, Eamon and Teagan have a thing for Orlesian accents, okay? PLUS ANORA/FERGUS.

* I actually have a ridiculous amount of love for some of my male characters. Rhen Aeducan, Theron Mahariel, and Faron Brosca are my 'canon' dwarf noble, dalish, and dwarf commoner characters.

*fact: if you harden Alistair, you can convince him to make Loghain a Warden and become King. He leaves your party and marries Anora, but at least he doesn't become a wandering drunk.

* also also lightning round at dao_challenge is one of my favorite things ever you should participate!

*EXCELLENT. I will have to. Transfer my screencaps tonight.

*WELL OKAY I'm not sure how it would go, though. Where would it start? Where would it end? (It would start with her showing up in town, and end with her coronation? But then I would have to kill off Alistair. Alas.)

*Maybe I am looking in the wrong places.

*Oh that is nice. I had a really awesome find last night for Loghain!baby but it is a boy name (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Feidlimid). Behindthename.com says it may mean beauty (http://www.behindthename.com/name/feidlimid), and anyway it's the name of Deirdre's father, and Flemeth's story is the Deirdre story (Connobar/Conchobar, come on), so I have asked my friends who have studied Irish how to feminize it. Because I have trouble imagining Morrigan with a boy. I feel like boy!babyarchdemon is more prone to doing evil destructive things, while girl!babyarchdemon is more likely to be mischievous.

*My A/M baby has her daddy's personality hiding behind her mommy's mannerisms, because I feel like Morrigan was like DO NOT ACT DUMB, ACT LIKE ME and she was like but but but I like acting dumb, and Morrigan was like FINE BE DUMB BUT DON'T LET ANYONE KNOW THAT EITHER OF US ARE PUSHOVERS.

*Fiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiine. I will read fic.

*I just have a really hard time playing dudes in any game. I've made it over halfway through Jade Empire with a dude, mostly because I wanted to romance Dawn Star and didn't want to go the threesome route, but the dude is basically a pushover. Also see last post where male NPCs I tend to find attractive are pretty obnoxious to the dude characters I play, and I can't balance it out.

*OH GOD, IS THIS TRUE, BECAUSE THAT MAKES ME SO HAPPY ON SO MANY LEVELS, OH MY GOD, JAK IS THAT REALLY TRUE.

*also I SEE WHAT YOU DID THERE, LINKING ME TO A CHALLENGE COMM. >:(

/loses rest of her life to challenge fics

* You should read fic! It's why I gave you a link to it. I will find more for you, just wait.

* I play both dudes and ladies in games because I believe in equality for all. My general rule of thumb is that if one game is canonically male, the next game will be canonically female, and vice versa. EQUALITY FOR EVERYONE! It was my Revan was a lady and my Exile was a dude. It just made sense! Therefore, while Commander Queen Cousland is my personal canon for DAO, I'm planning on playing a dude for DA2--Ethan "Ebon" Hawke, ftmfw.

* Yes, this is true. It's what I did for the m!Surana playthrough. Word of caution, though: if you don't sacrifice Loghain's ass to the archdemon Alistair remains pissy and bitter; however, if you sacrifice Loghain Alistair's like "Yay friendship!"

* What's the most important thing we've learned from this, jade? HARDEN ALISTAIR. If you don't know how I will explain this to you!

*YAY FIC

*Maaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaan I envy your ability. I tend to roll up a dude character and go WAIT, CAN NO LONGER FLIRT MY WAY OUT OF EVERY SITUATION, WHAT FAIL. (I might be able to play through with Aeden, because he is the first male OC my head has ever generated for a game, and so going in knowing who he is will help. Except I don't think he's romance Morrigan, but I would totally try to romance Morrigan just to see how it would go. My elves have Leliana and Zevran covered.) However, I am LOVING EBON HAWKE, OH MY GOD, FTMFW INDEED, AH-HAHAHAHAHAHA.

*(I really need to double-check on all these last names because people keep using them and I keep going WAIT, WHICH ELF IS THAT.) You know what, pissy and bitter Alistair, I DON'T CARE. /loves Loghain

*YES APPARENTLY

also two side things

* Names you should know:

Cousland- Human Noble
Amell- Human Mage
Surana- Elf Mage
Tabris- City Elf
Mahariel- Dalish Elf
Aeducan- Dwarf Noble
Brosca- Dwarf Commoner

It may help if you stop calling her Laemira and just call her Amell in your head. In your fic/universe, she has a name, but everyone else will just call her Amell.

2. XD each origin gets their own bonus boon at the end. Mages can free the Circle. City elves get the Alienage made into their own Bannorn, which they can then choose the Bann for (Shianni! The elder dude! YOURSELF!) Dalish elves get their own land finally. Human nobles take the Howe's lands and give them to the Grey Wardens. And the dwarves are given soldiers to help drive back darkspawn and end up recovering several lost thaigs. Word of God implies that all of these things happen regardless so you can play a city elf and sleep at night knowing that, come the sequel, you will have also freed the mages. :D

*Yeah, I had Amell and Cousland and Aeducan down, but that was it.

*THAT IS SO AWESOME it goes with my in-head wishing to read a fic that had a Warden for every background, so that you have, you know, seven Wardens, instead of just two. SHIANNI AS A BANN, THAT MAKES ME SO HAPPY.

also the templars, well, I mean, some of them are okay, but the general WATCHING DISTRUST ALL THE TIME was not okay

also also I have started posting your fic. IT TOOK ME LIKE TWO WEEKS AND IT IS ALL YOUR FAULT.
