Date: 2008-02-01 07:39 am (UTC)PS: you're very organised! I'm still proud of myself for writing down books for the month!
(no subject)
Date: 2008-02-01 08:43 pm (UTC)Yeah, I never liked Heathcliff or Cathy. When it comes to the Brontes, give me Charlotte any time.
(no subject)
Date: 2008-02-01 09:39 pm (UTC)2) Her grown-up reaction was exactly mine. Cathy Linton/Heathcliff/Earnshaw rocks my socks and was pretty much the only character I liked consistently. Thanks for the link, Emma!
Now, one of these days I'll get around to Jane Eyre...
(no subject)
Date: 2008-02-02 02:40 am (UTC)I love love love Jane Eyre--just think Wuthering Heights in reverse and you're good.

Date: 2008-02-02 02:36 am (UTC)I'm actually at my mid-teens right now and was at my mid-teens when I first read Wuthering Heights, so I dunno. And the link was very entertaining, because it sounds EXACTLY like what my best friend described to me when SHE first read the book... *shudders*
The only redeeming part of that book, to me, was the bit of Hareton/Cathy Linton in the end. (But then my friend just reminded me of the fact that they're first cousins during math...)

Date: 2008-02-01 05:04 am (UTC)You've watched some Firefly? How do you like it? Have you seen the episode that your icon comes from? Heehee...
(no subject)
Date: 2008-02-01 05:06 am (UTC)And I do love the Special Hell one, but I must admit that this one is my favorite. If I'm right, it comes from "Heart of Gold." The second I saw Inara crying I knew I had to have an icon of it--she's just so beautiful, and so sad. So sad. It broke my heart. So I spent hours and hours looking for the icon, and then I found it! :-D
(no subject)
Date: 2008-02-01 05:18 am (UTC)Oh my gosh, that whole episode (but especially that scene) is heartwrenching. (Inara reminded me of Thaddeus, actually.) I do love that icon. It's very powerful.
Oh, I was meaning to ask you...do you have any idea when Avatar's going to start up again?

Date: 2008-02-01 03:45 pm (UTC)I know! (Yeah, except she's much calmer.) :-D
NO FREAKING CLUE. *sulks*

Date: 2008-02-01 09:10 am (UTC)Serenity is *insert spoilers spoilers spoilers* but Firefly is better

Date: 2008-02-01 01:39 pm (UTC)I'm doing the same thing, except I'm keeping a running log Private, then extracting the month and posting. We'll see if I remember to keep it up. It's fun to look back on.
(I'm really liking Plain White T's, which I ended up getting b/c of your squees. I might need to get another CD)

Date: 2008-02-01 03:49 pm (UTC)Ooh, that sounds like fun. I might pull this back up every now and then (aside from updating it, of course)! Also, my seminar from last semester has a group that's getting together and watching movies every week, so I'll have lots and lots to write about. :-D
(yay! XD)

Date: 2008-02-01 09:43 pm (UTC)What did you think of the Pullman trilogy? I haven't read them, but I know my parents are fond of the first one, but not so much the others.
(no subject)
Date: 2008-02-01 10:01 pm (UTC)That's pretty much how I feel. The first one is really, really good. The second one's okay, and the third one has a bunch of good things but even more bad things. Like the third one, for every time I went "oh, that's a really good scene," I had two or three times when I went "NO PHILIP PULLMAN STOP BEING A PEDAGOGUE." If that's the right use of that world. Anyway, he made my head hurt because he was beating it over with his crappy misinterpretations and moralizing of everything.

Date: 2009-01-01 11:15 pm (UTC)You read Deerskin? What did you think? (Have I asked you this before?) I read the first chapter or two when I was in middle school, or so, and I was frightened of men for at least a month afterwards. O_O

Date: 2009-01-02 03:34 am (UTC)P.S. You hadn't seen "Braveheart" until this year? Wow. I love that movie! It always makes me happy to be Scottish!! And Mel Gibson's eyes are so deliciously blue in that movie. And amazing accents abound!
